Time Space Contium
Last Saturday Starr, Tina & I took a road trip to Nashville, TN to go David Steele's annual bmx/music extravaganza and it only took us a little over 4 hours to get there. This included stoping to pick up Starr in Louisville and stoping to eat and stoping to use the ladiesroom. I was under the impression that it was going to take longer to get there, but aprox. 4 hours later there I stood, in the DS's drive way. I would have thought that aliens had abducted us in Edenburg and then dropped us off in Nashville, but it was just as short on the way home. So, my only explaination is that there is a tear in the time space contium.....ok, I am a dork, I have been watching too much scifi channel!
During our trip we went thru the drive-up at Arby's thinking it was going to be fast. Wrong! We got our food, but had to wait for them to find straws, then waited for them to find napkins, the realized that the order was wrong, so they had to remake 2 sandwiches. I was able to eat everything that I ordered while we were still in line at the drive-thur. Needless to say the drive-thru girl didn't think we were cool with all of our demands. How absurd that we would want our order correct etc...
The next ordeal was stopping to get a water in TN and to use the potty. We stopped at one gas station and stormed into it like the circus. We made our purchases and the line was about 8 people deep waiting to use the lavatory (why were the so many people trying to use this bathroom you ask, I dont know, maybe they were giving away free iq tests or something) so we jetted to McD's (the busiest McDonald's I have ever seen, it was standing room only in side) and pulled into the parking lot in our giant SUV and the driver parked too close to the car next to us so we had to climb out the other side, but thought we would be quick enough that it would not bother anyone else....Wrong! We can back out and the poor people next to us were sitting in their car eating, becuase they could not back out, because not only were we parked to close to there car, but the back end of our giant SUV was behind thier bumper. It sound impossible, but I saw it.
Our last ordeal on the drive down was the small fire in Tina's hair.....There are 2 stories floating around on how it happened, but I can not confirm nor deny either of them. So make up your own story on how it happened :)
The trip was a blast, we got to see all the boys ride the ramp & play music. I am sure I will go again next year!

Talk Derby to Me
"Talk Derby to Me" was the Theme for the Kentucky Derby this year. I guess I didn't ever realize that they had a new theme each year. And I can't say that I think this one was all that great, but I have a souvenir glass that has that saying on it.
We started the weekend off on Friday by going to a party of a friend of a friend. They had Mai Tais and food. So it was a good time. We left there around 2 and walked to a near by Jazz Bar. We had our own couch, so that was a good time too. The bars didn't close until 6 am, but I am old, so I couldn't stay out that late.
Saturday we got up around 9 to start taking showers and were on our way to our first stop of the day by 11, which isn't bad considering there were 9 people to try and corral. We went back to the same party we were at the night before to say hi and get a pre-derby drink. Our next stop was friend of a friend's house. This is our secret free parking spot for the day. So, we have a bloddy mary and we are finally walking on your way to the Debry by 12.
The line to get in wasn't bad. There were about 20 cadets from a local military school as the "friskers". I don't know if it was because they were young or that they were told to do it this way, but they were really thurough. Let's just say that was the most action I've gotten in awhile :)
To sum up the entire day at the track: Sunny, Hot, Crowded, Lots of Laughs, Dirty Port-o-Pots, warm beers and lots of fun!
We left the track about an hour after the main derby race and it was the worst 'people jam' I have ever seen. There was only 1 way out whic was thru a dark creppy dusty tunnel. It took us about 30 minutes to walk 100 yards. It was crazy! We walked back to get our cars and stayed for what I thought was too long and then went back to where we were staying and then partied until the wee hours of the morning.
Sunday got up about 9 and we drove back to Indy. It was a very quite drive home, I am pretty sure that everyone was warn out from the parting.
I am glad everyone went with us. Overall, I had a great time. I just think that next time I might have to dial it back a notch. I am getting to old to party like it is 1999.
Thanks Heather and Jason for letting us stay at your house. You guys were awesome hosts! We owe you a good time for the 500 this year!

St.Patrick's Day 2006
I know I am a bad blogger.
I has been months since my last blog. I will say 10 hail marys and I hope all will be forgiven.
These are some old pictures that I should posted a long time ago.
These are from St. Patricks Weekend in Key West 2006. Friday everyone got to Key West and we started drinking about 12:00. We spent most of the day at Irish Kevin's.
The following day we headed out at 11:00 to start the Duval Crawl a.k.a. St. Patrick's Part II.
I look a litte crazed in this one.

Thunder 2006
This past weekend we made our annual trip to visit Starr for her birthday and it always coincides with Thunder over Louisville. We have been going since college. I knew that the fire works show was always amazing, but I did not know until recently that it is supposed to be the biggest fireworks display in the US. (I am not quoting any specific source for this info, becasue I just overheard some drunk people saying that is was the biggest) I guess what makes it so big is that Indiana and Kentucky have the exact same fireworks display at the same time. It is really amazing.
The pictures below don't do it justice, but it gives an idea of how huge the show is.
This picture shows both sides, Kentucky & Indiana, at the same time.
Overall, our 'girls' weekend was Great! The weather was great, the company was great and the fire works were great. (I sound like Tony the Tiger)
Anyway, I always appreciate the VIP suite at the 'Bats' (formally the 'RiverBats') games. So, thanks to Starr's StepDad, George, for always hooking us up. I tried to make sure that I ate at least 1 of everything at the concession stand. I did get to try a fried balogna sandwich, which is supposed to be awesome. I am glad I got to try it, but I don't think that I will be having one anytime soon.
Happy Birthday Starr. I can't wait until next year!
